Arriving ahead of Primus first studio LP, Frizzle Fry, 1989s Suck on This is a madcap introduction to bassist Les Claypool and Co.s brand of panicked, progressive alt-funk. Recorded at a pair of Bay Area concerts, the collection features sweat-glistening, fully tweaked-and-freaked performances of future classics John the Fisherman, Tommy the Cat, and more as well as a salute to Rushs YYZ. Presenting on-point performances and engagingly eccentric character portraits, its proof positive that Primus has always sucked. Own it now on cool, cobalt blue vinyl.
