Stranger in the Alps

Description

Produced byTony BergandEthan Gruska, the ten haunting and introspective songs onStranger In The Alpsfurther introduces 22-year-oldPhoebe Bridgersas a singular voice. There is a delicate balance to her work, a dance between veiled narratives and earnest emotions, between whispers and shouts. Throughout her full-length debut, Bridgers contemplates and reflects on personal experiences through her unique lyric writing perspective: there are overt references to lost idols, canonical pop songs and actual incidents, but her stories unfold through specific, evocative imagery sung in her subtle, confessional style. From the weeping strings andTwin Peakstwangs of opening track “Smoke Signals,” to the simple heartbreak of “Funeral” and melancholic crescendo of “Scott Street,”Stranger in the Alpsis a swooningly beautiful record with a gothic heart.
